What an exciting week... of new arrivals...Yarn that is!
I made my first international purchase on the internet from "Webs" yarn in Easthampton MA USA.... after being inspired by a download from "Interweave"... "How to weave a good Rug"....... ok.. stop giggling... not that sort... to put on the floor!...
Some lovely strong coloured Cotton 8/4 yarns arrived, ready to make some woven rag rugs.... One was missing from the order so I emailed... there was no quibble... its on the way... so I'm quite impressed! This type of yarn is really hard wearing so perfect for this type of rug... and I couldn't find it in the UK at such good prices... even with the import tax that the post office are now implementing it was worth the risk......
Also I placed an order for Axminster Rug wool from Texere in Bradford and that arrived too......... I've bought it specifically to weave some Warp Faced Rugs as they too have also taken my fancy and sparked my imagination....... Oooh I'm so delighted with the colour range that's come....
I've woven the last 6 cushions for a while, just got to make them up... but before I cut off the warp, I thought I'd use the last fabric I've woven as a support for my Peg Loom and weave some peg loom rugs using the Jumbo yarn I've got left... I want to use it up and they were really popular in the shop when I first opened over 13 months ago... I think I've got enough for 2 or 3 and the time spent weaving them will allow me to plan the colour schemes for the other types before I start.... Aaah I can feel the excitement building for my new projects... my creative juices are flowing!
.............. and Not forgetting .......
The sheep are all fine........ Mitsie and Dudley have been exceptionally fruity.. both are covered in bright orange rud and look as though they've been tango'd again........ We had 13 tupped in Billies field on Sunday.... and Melody and her flock of 12 are all fighting fit with the eye infection that was spreading between them finally under control....... Lottie has forgiven me for giving her an injection too....... its taken 3 weeks, but she came and pawed at my wellie for a stroke this morning so I'm really pleased that she's happy again... I hate it when they're sulking!
