I took all the fabric off the loom last night and cut the divisions between each cushion cover leaving me with 6 pieces of fabric, all different...... I left them all flat in the bath overnight in a warm solution of percil, this will allow all the grease left in the yarn to eke its way out and to leave the fibre clean and bright in it's final natural state.
This morning I have wrapped the fabric into a long sausage, so as not to crease it, and held it up to drain, while emptying the bath and refilling with clean water to rinse...... I did this a couple of times actually till the water ran clear... next I made up a solution of fabric softener and laid them all back down again, unwrapping them and laying them flat to absorb the softener while I went away to get on with all my jobs......
Melody is particularly snugly after breakfast today, placing her chin on my knee while she chewed her cud.. makes her nose go up and down!... with Megan rubbing round too.... Tottie and Jonty are more interested in their stomachs and their new friends Lupin and Dixie, although they too came for a stroke...... with Dotty and Curly Hamster briefly checking in for a nose rub.... the texdale sisters Misty and Sky are still rather aloof although getting better by the day.... I try to stroke them at the trough to get them used to being handled...... and even Millie wanted a proper stroke today...... and Lottie always gets a cuddle from me.... she's getting on very well with the hamster sisters, I think she remembers them from home field where she spent her first weeks as a lamb...
So the cushion covers got nearly 2 hours soak and are now hung on the line dripping..... this time I haven't given them a spin as it took so long to get the creases out last time... there is a good breeze today so they should be dry by lunch time, then I can brush them and start sewing!
