It is at these moments that the decision is made for you...... Mitsie loves her family, and they will be better off when they go into the field, with her protection... and of course she would get very low indeed if they were all taken away, sheep who loose their lambs get depressed.... Molly did when she lost hers prematurely in November... we couldn't give her an adoption because she wasn't producing milk.... so Mitsie and I have had a talk and we've decided that she will look after them all, and I will take care their diet...
All we have to do now is avoid her getting mastitis while she is drying off... her food intake will be reduced to a hand full of low nutrient nuts, as a treat, so she doesn't feel as though she is being deprived, and her main food will be hay.. something that she has preferred today anyway.... Her udder is not showing any signs of heat, which is a good thing, and she has had an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic already, so I think she will be o.k.
.......... we do love her!
