We popped all the little ones into the pen to feed them... they are hilarious.. while Nigel got the trailer into the field they quietly munch their nuts with the usual suspects wanting to have a few extra by hand... namely Tottie and Megan.. then when we lower the back of the trailer down they all trot in without any trouble.. makes us very proud that they are all so well trained!!
Next we went to collect Melody and the others, going through the same process. This time there was more sorting to do as the rest of Dudley's gang were there to confuse the situation, but the only one to load out of sequence was Holly, and she came back out without any fuss.
While Nigel took them back to be reunited with their mates, I stood with the remaining 7... they all wanted some attention, with Dudley coming up for lots of fuss... he then started rubbing his forehead on a post, butting it too... I noticed how smooth and polished it was... must be a regular game for him... always wondered why his head was green sometimes....
They heard the car and trailer long before I did, and perked their ears when it came into view....... all loaded except Mitsie, who decided to play silly and tried to knock me over... but when an obvious space was made she trotted up the ramp.. she has a mind of her own... not always a good thing!!
We let them out at Andy and Tina's field, onto acres of fresh green growth... and after 10 frantic minutes of gobbling Dudley came for a lean and a rub before we left happy in the knowledge that everyone was safe and content...
At tea time we went over to check Melody, just before it got dark and they all came chasing down... they recognise the field, but Melody obviously knows exactly where she is because when we left the field to go home she tried to come out with us... as a lamb she came everywhere with me and thought she should come into the barn... she hasn't seen it since the beginning of May when she finally became part of the flock... but she still knows what to do... They can all come in when the weather gets really bad.... Bet she sits in her own corner as soon as she sees it!!
