This was all made possible with the assistance of our resident babysitter, Nanny McHawkins, who together with 3 of her grandchildren took control of feeding our little Ellie lamb....... I had fed her early this morning and had dropped off more milk prepared in a bottle, before breakfast, and even before the children were out of bed..... Nigel too if the truth were known!!!!!!!!!!
On our return this afternoon Ellie was ready for her tea and while the mums ate their's all the lambs were rounded up and separated to have theirs... they are not really getting the hang of this very well, but those who wanted to eat lamb creep, did.. We are going to have to rethink the system altogether I think! Then after removing their feeding buckets I let the mums back in... this seemed to signal "time for romping"! I stood in the corner so they had as much space as they could muster.... and mostly led by my little madam, 10 lambs hurtled round and round until Phoebe got in the way and stopped play.... I continued to watch as Charlie and Ellie played "knock me off the bale" together and finally Ellie came round to ask for her evening sleep in my arms.... We left 20 minutes later with everyone settling down for the evening and Ellie eating her own supply of nuts, back home in her pen........ much to the fury of Ezmie who couldn't quite reach them!!!
