He's a very big boy... a Texel... and he's a great big soft pudding.... we loaded him into the back of the trailer just by catching him with a sack of nuts in the field.. he just marched up the ramp and let me rub his nose. even though we'd never met before.... We got him back to the barn, just a few hundred yards, let him wander round, then offered him a bucked of nuts while I rubbed green raddle on his chest to mark any conquests.... and he just stood there and let me.... always a good sign when it needs a top up in the field.
We let him into the field were 40 girls were waiting to make his acquaintance.. he introduced himself to each ewe, one at a time, but clearly is charismatic enough to attract a crowd...... Peewee and Freckle had a very long chat!!
It won't be long before we start lambing as the first Dorsets are due at the end of November........ so only about 8 weeks to go!!! Then the main group will start with the first due in about 5 months time!! ...... only 1 out of 40 tupped yesterday, so there could be more today if Buster is getting on with it???
